We are experiencing the sixth major mass extinction. It is most likely result of human activity. Scientists estimate this extinction is at a rate of 100 to 1,000 times faster than historic extinction rates.
Species can become extinct when humans over hunt and over fish, pollute the environment, destroy habitats, and introduce new species to areas.
If we don't change our behavior, the situation is going to get worse and worse, until a point of no return.
Yet, there is hope. We need, as humans, be more aware of the big impact our decisions have on the planet. There are better environmental alternatives to everyday decisions, such as not using plastic bags, recycling, using less energy at home, buying organic (instead of food with pesticides), etc.
It is also important to be more conscious of every decision we make, and how it may affect the wildlife and their habitats.
If we each put a little bit of effort, and raise our voice on this issue, we will slow down the current rate of extinction.
